My name is Scott Gaulter. I am the owner and crew chief of the Nitro Madness Fuel Altered. I live in Des Moines, Iowa with my wife Peggy, who is also a member of our racing team.
I own Specialty Graphics which is a commercial printing company in Des Moines, Iowa. We specialize in trade work and sell only to other printing companies and print distributors that resell of our product.
I also have a reproduction auto parts manufacturer called Specialty Reproductions. The auto parts business is managed by Larry Bailey, who is another Nitro Madness crew member. We manufacture reproduction auto parts for the restoration industry. We sell these parts to the trade and manufacturer mostly 1960s and 70s Chevrolet parts along with a few early Honda motorcycle items.
I got into racing at age 13 on a Rupp go-kart with McCulloch 91B1 engine. I raced for 3 years at a local kart track in Newton, Iowa until I was 16 and wanted to build my first street car. After restoring a 1964 Chevelle, 1967 Camaro, 1967 Chevy II Nova and a few other street cars, I was ready to move into drag racing.
I bought the first Nitro Madness car in 1997 and along with friends Curt Leaverton and Dennis Mothershed, we formed the first generation of our racing team. Curt, Denny & I all drove the car with a blown small block Chevy engine at local tracks in Iowa and competed in several Quick 8 and Quick 16 events. Randy Clough and Larry Bailey joined the team as core crew members in 2002. We updated the chassis in 2007 with the current T & C built car with a 1948 Topolino body. Sean Belt from Kansas City joined the team as our driver at the beginning of the 2008 season. You might know Sean from his racing career with the "Metal Mafia" AA/FA. The Nitro Madness team has match raced with Sean over the last few years and also competed with him at several Outlaw Fuel Altered events. We look forward many successful years with Sean as our driver.
We enjoy running 7-10 events in the Midwest each year. We also attend several car shows and display the Nitro Madness Fuel Altered for our sponsors in between races.
