Im Randy Clough, one of the crew members on Scott Gaulters Nitro Madness AA/FA dragster.
I live in Des Moines with my wife, Judy and two daughters, Tracey and Stacey. I work for the local Caterpillar dealer, Ziegler, and take care of five facilities in Iowa. I have been employed there for over 27 years.
My interest in mechanical equipment started around age 10. By 11 I had my first car, a 1963 Ford Falcon. One day while my dad was at work, I decided the engine needed to come out for a rebuild. Using a rope, block & tackle and a garage rafter the job was accomplished in short order. Dad was shocked to see the engine setting on the garage floor when he got home. The engine was bored 030.over, had a split header, Holley carburetor and a little extra compression. It ran pretty respectable for a 170 cid.
At the track, I assist in the pre-race safety inspection and between round maintenance. I tow the car to the starting line, and back to the pits after the run.
I also take my turn driving the tow rig to and from the races.
I enjoy being part of the team and being around the other racers.
I encourage you to come to one of our events.
Be sure and stop by our pit to meet the team and check out the car.
