I grew up around racing and motorsports and have always had an affinity for building and fabricating things. At age 13 I was building engines with my father Gary, and by the time I was 16 we hit the ground running with a 1967 Camaro at local bracket races. After taking time to pursue my education and career, I traveled with Zach and Cody Barklage for several years on the NHRA and IHRA circuits running their pro-mod cars. I worked with the Barklage team on every aspect of their racing operation and even filled in driving for Cody in 2006 at the Indianapolis Super Chevy Show. As a self-taught TIG welder and chassis fabricator, I went on to construct an AA/FA in the basement of my Shawnee, Kansas home. After completing construction of this hand-made creation, the entire car had to be disassembled in order to pass through the only available door (which was only 30 inches wide!). With the car reassembled and ready for competition my family and I raced the "Metal Mafia" Fuel Altered throughout the Midwest over the last few years. We matched raced with the Nitro Madness team on several occasions and have become good friends on and off the track.
In the fall of 2007, Scott Gaulter approached me about joining the Nitro Madness AA/FA team as the driver beginning in the 2008 racing season. The team match races and competes at 8-10 nostalgia events each year. My Duties on the team will include preparing and maintaining the safety equipment between rounds, mixing and preparing fuel and greeting fans in the Nitro Madness pit area. I really enjoy racing with the Nitro Madness team and plan on an many exciting seasons as the driver. I look forward to meeting all of the fans as we spread the excitement of side-by-side 200+mph fuel altered racing!
